Ch 15-16 Deadmen

15.
P. 238
"Waiting for him was Bolshevik death squad led by commander Jacob Yurousky."
This quote is relevant to the 15th chapter because it tells the reader what happen to the Russian Royal family. Through the whole chapter Dr. Maples investigates what happened to the royal family, which they were killed by Jacob Yurousky and his death squad.

P. 239
"Yurousky had not finished speaking when the first shots exploded in the narrow room."
I think this quote captures the cruelty that is described throughout the chapter when the family was murdered in order to overthrow the government.

P.239
"Execution of Nicholas, the bloody crowned murderer shot without Bourgeous formal ties but in accordance with our new democratic principles."
The quote demonstrates why the royal Russian family was being murdered, to overthrow the old government and to establish a new one.

P. 244
"Eight days after the murders, white Russian arms under admiral Alexander Kolchak reconquered Ekaterinburg"
This quote emphasizes that this was all military related and the whole family had to pay the price that was probably unjustly set upon them.

P.267
""Anna Anderson" went to her grave in 1984 claiming she was Anastasia"
I think it is interesting how the "lost princess" is actually an option for the what happen because no one knows what happened to Anastasia even if Dr. Maples does not think she survived.

16.
P.270
"I am recalling 5 young students..."
As always it is important to set the scene of the victims describing their background and what their life was like so that the reader knows what was stripped from the victim, and I believe to get the reader to connect as he connects with the case.

P.271
"Unfortunately for him he left traces of his semen at the scene and this identified him by means of DNA "fingerprinting"."
Even though this quote is important it mostly makes me very happy to know that the murderer made a mistake and it lead to his downfall. I see it as a revenge from the two girls he raped because that caused him to get caught.

P.274
“. accused man suddenly pleaded guilty of five counts of murder and three of rape."
It was Shocking that someone capable of those horrendous actions could just confess to so many crimes that were certainly going to keep him locked for a while.

P.274
""I've been running all my life" he declared "and there are some things you cannot run from anymore.""
I think this is important because it gives a sort of closure that he "bad guys" actually have remorse and have to live with it forever and hopefully it is unbearable.

P.280
"They have tales to tell us even though they are dead."
I think this is important to the whole book because it is what he tries to demonstrate in all the chapters that even dead bodies can tell the truth: there is no perfect crime.
